Thousands of kroner will remain in the pockets of Danes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n According to TV2, figures from the Ministry of Finance (Finansministeriet) show that the government's new budget proposal will give Danes the opportunity to save thousands of kroner annually thanks to reduced tariffs on electricity, coffee, chocolate, and lower costs for childcare facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A family consisting of two parents in senior jobs with two children and owning a home will receive an additional 9,300 kroner in 2026, rising to 10,500 kroner in 2027. A working family with two children and homeownership will receive 8,650 kroner in 2026, rising to 9,475 kroner in 2027. A couple receiving social assistance with two children will receive 4,575 kroner in 2026 and 5,250 kroner in 2027, while a single recipient of assistance without children will receive an additional 1,300 kroner in 2026, rising to 1,600 kroner in 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Promises of a \u201ccheaper and safer\u201d future\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen (Social Democrats) asserted at the opening of the press conference that this budget \u201cwill make the daily lives of Danes better and safer, and put more money in their hands,\u201d noting that inflation in food prices has made supporting families a priority.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Wammen explained that the typical Danish family of four would see an increase of around 8,500 kroner in 2026 thanks to the proposed initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Biggest tax breaks in 10 years<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Economy Minister Stephanie Lose (Venstre party) stressed that the budget includes \u201cthe biggest tax cuts for individuals in a decade\u201d as well as \u201cthe biggest fee relief in ten years.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n She added that the government will allocate 1.3 billion kroner in 2026 and 1.5 billion in 2027 to eliminate duties on some food items and reduce electricity tax, stressing that this will reduce the administrative burden on the business sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Right-wing opposition is "surprising".\u201c<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n For his part, Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt (Moderate Party) expressed his surprise at the criticism from the right-wing opposition, saying that \u201cthe budget includes many gifts for Danes, from reducing fees to lowering the prices of children\u2019s institutions.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He also argued that the agreement between the three parties in the government (S, V, M) would not have been possible under the traditional division between the red and blue blocs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Criticism from the opposition: \u201cCoffee and chocolate are not enough.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Despite welcoming some of the provisions, the Enhedslisten party, through its political spokesman Pelle Dragsted, criticized the budget for not addressing the problem of rising food prices: \u201cPeople cannot live on coffee, chocolate, or books. Most Danes are worried about the price of butter.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He noted that the government's investment in childcare and elderly care "is not up to expectations," especially given the improvement in the national economy by 60 billion kronor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Who is attacking the Liberal Alliance party?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The finance minister devoted part of his speech to attacking the Liberal Alliance party and its leader Alex Vanopslagh, saying: \u201cNot all kroner can be spent on tax cuts alone. Money must be left to be invested in health, education and elderly care.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cExtremely strong\u201d economy\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Wamen emphasized that Denmark today enjoys a \u201cvery strong economy,\u201d noting that the country has the largest number of employees in its history with a continuous financial surplus for nine years, the largest in Europe during the last six years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Additional priorities: Defense, security, and welfare<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The new budget includes a 10 billion kroner increase in general defense allocations next year, half a billion to strengthen security and community preparedness, in addition to 500 million kroner annually for four years directed towards welfare and the green transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n 1.9 billion kroner was also allocated to cover the costs of receiving Ukrainian refugees, while a symbolic sum of 5 million kroner per year was allocated to support the Danish circus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Concern on the part of the business community<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The president of the Confederation of Danish Industries (DI), Lars Sandahl S\u00f8rensen, described the budget as a \u201cfirst-rate budget,\u201d but warned of future risks to the competitiveness of Danish companies in light of increasing global competition, especially from China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n An election tactic is looming.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Political analyst Ask Rostrup believes this budget is the last one before the next general election, noting that the government may use it to consolidate its electoral
