As Denmark's first police district, Copenhagen police began using facial recognition technology when examining video footage in serious criminal cases, such as murder and rape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A press release from the National Police stated that the technology is also used for object identification, making it possible to employ it in all types of criminal cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This tool allows police to identify faces and objects within video recordings collected during investigations, reducing the need for manual review by officers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This technology was introduced at the request of the police themselves, despite facing criticism. In September of last year, a majority of members of parliament in Christiansborg voted to approve its use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
