But it is not only that, it is also related to financial crimes, and that criminals should not be able to use 1000 kroner banknotes to launder money in retail trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Police estimate that the 1,000 kroner note is the most commonly used currency in connection with crime and money laundering, according to Kristian Kittel Thomsen. Therefore, in some cases, citizens may have to declare the source of funds when handing them over at the bank in order to combat money laundering, the press conference quoted the source as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2086ec66f25ac402c19cd3a71af515b0\"><strong>The banks are ready to implement<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Ulrik Nodgaard, Denmark\u2019s finance director, who also attended the press conference, it is a comprehensive task that banks are now facing, but banks are ready to help customers adapt. He cannot promise that banks will be ready as of tomorrow morning, but at the same time he confirms that there is no rush to hand over his 1,000 kroner banknotes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He adds that if it is small amounts of money, it will be largely possible to handle them at bank machines: \u201cCustomers should be aware that bank machines cannot accept all series of 1000 kroner banknotes.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the end of 2024, it will also be possible to deposit 1000 kroner banknotes at the National Bank and this will remain possible until 2026, one year after they can no longer be used as a means of payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brian Mikkelsen says the phase-out will also mean that stores can make do with smaller stock, creating a safer working environment and reducing the risk of theft.
