The parties that supported the previous government (now the opposition Red Bloc) have sharply criticized the new government led by Mette Frederiksen for abandoning previously reached agreements on supporting the education sector and childcare centers, agreements which some Red Bloc parties said they had "fought for." The SF party commented on the government's compromise, which falls short of the agreed minimum standards, stating, "We allocated a significant amount of money to train more teachers and to ensure the training of staff working with our children in childcare centers," according to Jakob Mark, the SF's spokesperson on childhood issues. He described this as a "failure," adding that while the minimum standards are guaranteed by legislation that came into effect at the beginning of this year, another part of the compromise\u2014the funds intended to ensure better training for staff working in childcare facilities\u2014has not been secured in the same way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The settlement states that, in the period from 2023 to 2025, 500 million kronor were allocated to better train staff in daycare institutions, so that, for example, an adult teaching assistant could be trained as a teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Radical Party Comment<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Radicals also expressed their dissatisfaction because \u201cit is no longer possible to obtain a guarantee that the amounts otherwise agreed upon will be allocated within the 2023 budget,\u201d which the government has not yet provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Instead, 100 million kroner was allocated for 2023 to improve staff skills according to minimum standards. In more detail, the previous agreement (concluded by the previous Social Democratic government with the SF, the Radical Party, Alternativet, and Enhedslisten) included a budget to increase the number of staff in daycare centers and to raise the number of graduates specifically qualified for these jobs. There is still public debate about the shortage of staff in daycare institutions such as nurseries, as well as the shortage of qualified people for this category of jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Minister of Childhood and Education Matthias Zweig responded to the criticism.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Minister for Children and Education Matthias Zweig of the Social Democratic Party said the government is examining "how much money can be allocated to secure the education agreement." Zweig believes the biggest problem is that when municipalities look for new teachers, no one applies.
