As the Danish parliamentary elections approach, differences in political alliances between parliamentary parties have begun to surface, whether between the parties of the Red Bloc, to which the current ruling party belongs, or between the parties of the Blue Bloc (currently the opposition). One of the signs of differences between the parties of the Blue Bloc is a statement by politician S\u00f8ren Pape Poulsen, leader of the Conservative Party, at a press conference this morning, in which he announced his candidacy for the position of Prime Minister after the upcoming parliamentary elections. This announcement comes as a political bombshell, as the parties of the Blue Bloc now have two candidates for the position of Prime Minister, after Jakob Ellemann Jensen, leader of the Liberal Party, announced his candidacy for the same position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As expected, S\u00f8ren Pape Poulsen began his speech at the press conference this morning by talking about Danish values and identity and the need to preserve them: \u201cWe must take care of Denmark, our values and our identity. This is what I am running for election on, and I am doing so as a candidate for Prime Minister.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the opening remarks, Poulsen began talking about what he wanted to achieve with his party (the Conservatives) if he were elected as Denmark's new prime minister. He pointed out that the public sector was in crisis and that politicians had failed to improve it, addressing the healthcare system and the elderly. He also spoke about reducing taxes and using individuals to contribute to providing solutions for the public sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regarding the position of Prime Minister, Poulsen said during the press conference that if the Blue bloc wins the votes, he will convince the bloc's parties, including the bourgeois and right-wing parties, to vote for him to take over the position of Prime Minister. The same action will be taken by the leader of the Venstre Liberal Party, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, and then they will see what the outcome may be.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, after Poulsen\u2019s statement, Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, leader of the Liberal Party, commented that it was natural for the largest party in the Blue Bloc to assume the position of Prime Minister if the Blue Bloc won the parliamentary elections. Jakob Ellemann-Jensen also confirmed that he would be the best person to occupy this position and that he would be happy for S\u00f8ren Pape Poulsen to take a ministerial portfolio in his government if Jakob Ellemann-Jensen were elected Prime Minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conservatives make significant gains in opinion polls<\/strong>
The latest opinion poll conducted by Epinion shows that the Conservative Party will make good progress compared to the 2019 general election. According to the poll, the Conservatives will get 11.5% of votes compared to 6.6% of votes in the 2019 election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jakob Ellemann-Jensen, the other candidate for prime minister from the Blue Bloc, also received 14.2% votes in the same poll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
