The Danish Tenants Association (Lejerforeningen Danske Lejere) expressed concern that the recent price increases could also mean significant rent increases for tenants who signed their contracts since the summer of 2015, as a clause or mechanism has since been introduced allowing rents to be raised in line with inflation, and if inflation remains at its current level, it can therefore be converted into rent increases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
J\u00f8rgen Dyrholm Jensen, an official with the Danish Tenants' Association, told TV2 that many tenants who moved in after July 1, 2015, have a rental agreement with a net price index mechanism. He explained that this mechanism means rents increase when inflation rises. The increase is usually a one-time annual adjustment and does not change from month to month. For most people, the change will likely occur on January 1st.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Statistics Denmark announced on Tuesday that prices have risen by 6.7% from April of last year to April of this year, with energy prices in particular, such as gas, petrol and electricity, as well as food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
