The latest figures from the statistics agency Our World in Data \u2013 dated December 23 \u2013 confirm that Denmark is the country in the world with the highest rate of infection with the virus globally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Omicron variant has emerged prominently in Europe, leading to the continent being considered the region with the fastest rate of infection spread globally during the past week. In addition to Denmark, the list of highest infection rates included the United Kingdom, Malta, Ireland, and France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Experts have justified this in their analyses by saying that countries like Denmark show high transparency in the number of confirmed cases as a natural result of the large number of tests that are conducted and recorded daily.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Danish health authorities, the Omicron variant accounted for 76% of the total number of coronavirus cases on December 21, up from only 44% on December 15, according to TV2 on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
