Now, lawyer Mads Kr\u00fcyer Bramming, representing the four sisters, is suing the municipality of Odense for 1.2 million kroner in compensation. The sisters&#039; lawyer believes the violent abuse could have been avoided if the municipality&#039;s youth and children&#039;s department had intervened, as they were repeatedly informed that something was wrong.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">\u201cThe Odense municipality has been informed for many years and continuously about the girls\u201d poor development through several reports from the parents, the girls\u2019 grandmother, other family members, friends of the home and the girls\u2019 schools, including the headteacher and the class teachers concerned,\u201d according to a statement signed by the three sisters\u2019 parents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">The mother, aged 48, was sentenced in February to two years in prison for abuse, neglect, and psychological violence against her four daughters. The court in Odense heard that the severe abuse began in 1996, and that she had inserted needles under the girls&#039; fingernails and forced them to lick the floor, among other things. The four girls were aged 24, 18, 15, and 14 at the time of sentencing.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">According to the statement issued by the three parents of the four sisters, \u201cDespite these numerous notifications over many years, the Odense municipality chose not to respond, investigate, or act on many serious reports. Consequently, the Odense municipality has incurred significant and unavoidable responsibility for the serious, lifelong injuries that have been medically documented and which each of the four siblings has now suffered.\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\">The Odense Children and Youth Department confirmed to BT that it had received the request from the girls&#039; lawyer: &quot;The Children and Youth Department can confirm that it has received a summons.
