The University of Copenhagen announced on its website X that, effective Wednesday, it will divest from Airbnb, Booking.com, and eDreams due to these companies' operations and profiteering from the occupation of Palestinian territories in the West Bank.
Since the beginning of May, students at the University of Copenhagen have been camped out in one of the university's gardens to protest the university's investments in companies that profit from the occupation of Palestinian territories, among other demands.
This decision follows a decision by the University of Copenhagen's governing board in April that the university would hold talks with the administrations of institutions it deals with that are simultaneously listed by the United Nations as having activities in the occupied West Bank.
In a previous post on the social networking site X, the University of Copenhagen said that the value of investments made by the university with companies listed on the United Nations list at the beginning of May amounted to about one million Danish kroner, and went specifically to Booking.com, Airbnb and eDreams ODIGEO.
