The Danish government issued a statement Wednesday morning through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs announcing exceptional support for Palestine following news of a ceasefire agreement in Gaza on Tuesday. The statement read as follows:
New Danish aid worth millions of kroner is on its way to the Palestinian crisis following the ceasefire.
Following yesterday’s news of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, the Danish government has decided to make an exceptional humanitarian contribution of 75 million kroner to the Palestinian crisis.
“لقد أثار وقف إطلاق النار بين إسرائيل وحماس أملاً جديداً. وسوف تذهب مساهمتنا الجديدة إلى الجهود العاجلة لإنقاذ حياة السكان المدنيين المتضررين بشدة في غزة ودعم إعادة الإعمار المبكر قدر الإمكان هنا في المراحل الأولى من وقف إطلاق النار. لقد تم خلق زخم جديد، ونحن على استعداد للاستفادة منه على الجانب الدنماركي، والذي من الممكن أن يؤدي إلى سلام دائم. ويقول وزير الخارجية لارس لوك راسموسن: “إن رحلتي إلى الشرق الأوسط في الأيام الأخيرة أكدت لي هذا الأمر”.
The new contribution comes in addition to the nearly 700 million kroner that Denmark has already provided as humanitarian support for the Palestinian crisis in 2023 and 2024.
The foreign minister visited Israel, Palestine, Jordan and Lebanon earlier this week.
