A thrilling election night: In the end, the red party secured a majority (90 seats) in the Danish parliament.

After an exciting election night in Denmark on November 1, 2022, the parties of the Red Bloc together (the Social Democratic Party and the supporting parties) won 87 seats, and then the required majority and the magic number of 90 seats were completed after the Red Bloc won 3 additional seats granted to it by Greenland and the Faroe Islands; two seats from Greenland and one seat from the Faroe Islands, while the other seat for the bloc went to the Blue Bloc.

The 2022 parliamentary elections will be remembered for their excitement and surprises. For a long time during the election campaigns, it seemed that Lars Løkke Rasmussen, founder and leader of the Moderate Party, would easily control who would sit in the government. This was because poll after poll showed a significant lead for the Moderate Party just months after its formation. The polls largely confirmed the election results, with the Moderate Party winning 16 seats, at the expense of a parliamentary majority for the Red Bloc. However, in the early hours of the morning, the Red Bloc's jubilation was crowned by the addition of the three seats that enabled it to achieve a parliamentary majority without needing the Moderates' approval.

The final result is 90 seats for the Red bloc, 72 seats for the bloc, and 16 seats for the moderates who do not belong to any bloc, in the first general election in which the party participates.

The government resigns today
Mette Frederiksen announced that the government would submit its resignation to the Queen today in order to try to form a broad coalition government with the participation of different parties instead of a one-party government, because both the Radicals and the Social Democrats themselves said they wanted to investigate the possibility of forming a broad coalition government above the political center.
