Denmark receives 3,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine today, according to health authorities.

According to a statement published by the State Serum Institute on its official website on Thursday, a new case of monkeypox has been discovered, bringing the total number of cases in Denmark to eight.

The source of infection for the new case is known; the infection may have occurred while outside Denmark. The Danish Patient Safety Agency also identified the source of infection in three cases yesterday, where there is a link to a previous infection. Therefore, the infection is not considered to be a community infection at this time.

Based on the advice of health authorities, Denmark has purchased about 3,000 doses of monkeypox vaccine, which will be delivered today, Thursday, June 16, 2022. Denmark had previously received 200 doses from the Netherlands, only a small part of which have been used, while the vaccine is currently being given to four people.

The State Serum Institute has found a total of nine cases of monkeypox in Denmark so far, but since one of the infected individuals resides in Sweden, it is not counted in the Danish figures.
