Although there may be some indications that inflation has peaked in Denmark, that does not mean that prices cannot continue to rise in retail stores such as supermarkets.
According to TV2, about half of retailers (46%) expect to raise their prices in the next three months, according to figures from Statistics Denmark on Tuesday.
Inflation peaked in October when the annual increase in prices reached 10.1%. Since then, Danish Statistics Bureau calculations show that the annual increase in prices fell to 8.7% in December. There are no calculations for January yet.
Therefore, prices are still higher than they were a year ago, but the pace of increases has slowed down.
46% expects price increases
Thus, 46% of retailers still expect price increases in the next three months. Statistics Denmark did not ask retailers to specify the amount of the price increase, so the figures do not show how much retailers expect price increases to be.
