According to the DR website, the Danish parliament will consider the agreement after the New Year, and with a parliamentary majority consisting of the three ruling parties and Danmarksdemokraterne, Liberal Alliance, SF, Konservative, Enhedslisten, DF, Radikale Venstre og Alternativet, the dental accounting system is expected to come into force at the end of 2027.
The following are some of the areas that will see changes under the new agreement:
Dental account categorized by age
Young adults aged 22 to 25 will receive approximately SEK 600 annually into their dental accounts to ensure a smooth transition from pediatric to adult dental care. Adults aged 35 to 60 will receive approximately SEK 450 annually, while seniors over 80 will receive approximately SEK 850 annually. The higher support for seniors is due to their greater need for treatment. These funds can be saved over two years. The dental accounts are expected to launch at the end of 2027.
More money for the economically disadvantaged
To improve social equality in the field of dental health, 66 million kroner are allocated so that, for example, recipients of cash benefits can obtain dental treatments without paying any amounts out of their own pockets.
Setting a price ceiling
The current fixed prices for dental treatments will be replaced with maximum prices. This will allow dentists to offer lower prices to patients while ensuring that the cost of treatments does not increase beyond what it is today.
Digital dentist selection tool
A new digital tool for choosing a dentist will be launched, making it easier to select a dentist and compare treatment prices at different clinics. This tool is expected to be ready in the first half of 2026.
New rules for dentists
Ownership rules for dentists will be relaxed, so that in the future dentists will be able to own up to four clinics instead of the current two.

There are currently 15 support programs that allow citizens to access additional dental care, for example, in cases of specific social or economic challenges, or special health needs. However, awareness of these programs remains limited.
Therefore, an awareness campaign should be launched to increase awareness of these programs and encourage people to take advantage of them. This would contribute to reducing disparities in dental health services and improving them for those most in need.
