Three people were shot on Sunday afternoon in the Agervang area of Holbæk, in an incident police believe is linked to a conflict within the criminal underworld, before arresting three suspects, the last of whom was a 35-year-old man, according to TV2.
A fight precedes the shooting
The incident began when a fight broke out between a large group of people in the area, according to testimonies gathered by the police. A white car then arrived at the scene, shots were fired, and the car quickly left.
A man attempted to pursue her but was involved in an accident on Nørrevang Street and was detained by police for questioning about his role in the events. Police later located the white car.
Three injured; police suspect criminal conflict
Three men were shot, but police confirmed their condition was not serious.
Deputy Inspector General of Central and West Zealand Police, Lars Krogsgaard, said that police clearly believe the shooting is linked to a conflict within the criminal environment, but have not yet determined the exact motive.
Two suspects were arrested, and the search for the third is underway.
On Sunday evening, two young men, aged twenty-two and twenty-three, turned themselves in to the police and were arrested in connection with the case.
The 23-year-old was charged with attempted murder, while the 22-year-old was charged with complicity in attempted murder.
Meanwhile, police continued to search for a third suspect, before being able to identify him through investigations and witness statements.
Third man arrested
On Monday morning, police announced the arrest of a third man, a 35-year-old resident of Holbeck, who may also face charges of involvement in the attempted murder.
Lars Krogsgaard said the investigation had made significant progress, but police could not rule out the possibility that other people might be held responsible for actions related to the shooting.
Today's court session
The three suspects are scheduled to appear before Holbeck court at 1:30 p.m. on Monday for a constitutional hearing.
The public prosecutor's office confirmed that it would request that the court doors be closed during the session.
Police are still investigating the motive behind the shooting, the roles played by the suspects, and whether other people were involved in the incident.
