Siren sounding in Køge and an emergency statement from the police to residents of the area

TV2 reported a short while ago that there is heavy smoke over the city of Køge resulting from a fire that broke out on a ship docked in the port of Køge off Nordhavnsvej.

Central and West Zealand police issued an emergency statement about the fire and the heavy smoke, which the company described as harmful to health, and urged city residents to stay away from it and close their doors and windows, according to the source.

According to the emergency services website odin.dk, a fire alarm was issued on a ship lying in the port basin at 15:15, and no injuries were reported, according to TV2.

According to Vesselfinder, the ship is sailing under the Portuguese flag and arrived at the port of Køge on Tuesday night.

DR P4 Trafik on X also reported that police have blocked traffic on Værftsvej and Østre Banevej roads in Køge due to the fire.
